ARIADNE guard route supervision

Indoor and outdoor localization application for KENWOOD NEXEDGE radios

There is an increasing demand to provide accountability and traceability in the supervision of routine security tasks. ARIADNE is the ideal system to manage guard security rounds, asset control, maintenance and verification of personnel performance. Furthermore it provides enhanced security for the lone workers with the utilisation of a motion sensor (tilt, immobility and stress) and emergency call functions.

The ARIADNE guard route supervision system uses KENWOOD NX-220/320 series digital hand portable radios with an external speaker microphone where the active or passive reader is installed. Both passive and active reader is available with a GPS version to enhance the outdoor localization.

The localization is based on Radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology that uses radio waves to transfer data from an electronic tag, called RFID tag, installed at the checkpoint, through a reader (speaker microphone) for the purpose of identifying the location of the personnel. In the ARIADNE system RFID tags can be either passive or active. Passive RFID tags does not use a battery, while an active tag has an on-board battery or connected to mains supply and always broadcasts or beacons its signal.

Advanced guard route supervision is achieved by placing active or passive RFID tags close to checkpoints which need to be visited by security guards, the ARIADNE solution is ideally suited to provide verification that a check has actually taken place.

ARIADNE products:

  • Passive RFID reader
  • Active RFID reader
  • Active RFID reader with GPS
  • Passive+Active (Hybrid) reader

Passive RFID solution:

The personnel equipped with KENWOOD radio and passive ARIADNE speaker microphone puts the microphone near (distance of just a few cm) to the control point (RFID tag). The RFID tag is identified by the reader and the radio sends a message with the unique ID of the control point. The personnel receives a signal (visual and sound) which confirms registration and than he moves to the next control point on the route. If the transmission via the radio network failed the personnel receives an error signal (visual and sound) so he can read again the control point.

Active RFID solution:

Automatic (active) indoor tracking is accomplished by the installation of a number of beacons throughout the various areas of a building. The beacon is fitted with an ultra-low power RFID transmitter (2,4 GHz), which broadcasts a unique ID up to a distance of approximately 10 meters around the beacon. The personnel equipped with KENWOOD radio and active ARIADNE speaker microphone automatically picks-up the beacon';s ID signature as it is moved around the building when enters the coverage area of a beacon. The RFID beacon is identified by the receiver and the radio sends a message with the unique ID of the control point. The personnel receives a signal (visual and sound) which confirms registration and than he moves to the next control point on the route. If the transmission via the radio network failed the personnel receives an error signal (visual and sound) so he can move back to the area of the bacon for retransmission.

Beacons:

The ARIADNE beacons have a coverage range which ranges from 1 meter up to 10 meters. The beacons can be supplied in two variants battery operated with push button and external power operated with continuous transmission.

Software:

The ARIADNE system is compatible with the KENWOOD KAS-10 AVL and Dispatch software for basic supervision tasks and outdoor GPS based localization.

Voice, text, status and emergency messaging:

Integral to the ARIADNE system are KENWOOD NX-220/320 digital VHF/UHF band advanced hand portable radio transceivers. The radios give full status, text messaging, lone worker functions and emergency advanced motion detection function with a dedicated emergency button on the side of the radio. The digital voice communication is a secured with built in NXDN encryption.

The ARIADNE guard route supervision system is an application that will improve your service quality, provide a better internal business control and enhances the security of your personne's. An innovative approach, which includes the newest achievements on digital radio technology area, represents an excellent base for creating competitive advantages on one side and reducing costs on the other side.
